Rickard Jorgensen
President

Rickard Jorgensen is a 20 year veteran of the professional liability insurance industry. He has been successful as an insurance broker, risk management consultant and as Chief Underwriting Officer of CPAGold™, The Firemark™, AE123™ and other diverse professional liability programs. He is an author and comments on professional liability issues in various professional and trade publications.

Rick is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, an Associate of the Institute of Arbitrators, and an Associate in Risk management of the Insurance Institute of America.

Rick began in the insurance industry in 1980 in the United Kingdom and quickly moved to London, where he became a Lloyd’s Insurance Broker. Moving to Montreal, Canada, Rick joined Minet International Professional Indemnity, Inc., serving the larger regional accounting firms and international consultants. In 1991 he relocated to the United States. In 1994 Rick founded Jorgensen & Company and has nurtured the company to become one of the pre-eminent insurance agencies dedicated to professional liability insurance.

Thomas Dattoli
Executive Vice President
and Sales Manager

Thomas Dattoli is highly regarded in the professional liability insurance industry as a broker, risk manager and consultant. Tom has more than 20 years experience working with all types of professionals and directors regarding their professional and management exposures. He is a graduate of the first DPIC Academy, holds a Masters of Business Administration in Insurance from St. John’s University (formerly the College of Insurance), and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Ramapo College of New Jersey. Tom has served as an adjunct professor of insurance at Bergen Community College. He has also earned the prestigious Accredited Advisor in Insurance Designation from the Insurance Institute of America.

Tom began his career as an underwriter trainee with the Continental Insurance Company. From there he joined Minet Professional Services and quickly progressed from a Client Service Representative to an Account Executive, Assistant Vice President and finally Risk Manager for their North American Retail Operations. Tom has served as a Sales Manager for UVW/Elizabeth Group and Broker with Singer Nelson Chalmers. He joined Jorgensen & Company in 1999 as a Vice President.

Mr. Dattoli’s experience includes implementation of alternative risk financing programs, retrospectively rated programs, banking programs and risk purchasing groups. Tom has helped professionals and directors implement loss control and risk management programs, such as loss control awareness, contract review, loss control mitigation advice and peer review.

John R. Schafer
Vice President/Programs Manager

John joined Jorgensen & Company in 2004 as an Underwriter and quickly ascended to the position of Underwriting Manager of all professional programs. Prior to joining the company, he served as a Professional Liability Claims Adjuster for American International Group (AIG) and Kemper Insurance Companies. Combined, he has over 7 years of Professional Liability Insurance experience and is currently working towards receiving his Associate in Risk Management (ARM) insurance designation.

John graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2001 with a B.S. in Business Management. He holds a New Jersey Insurance Producer License (Property & Casualty) and is a Member of Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS).
